Vacation - The Abridged Version

The Ragsdale clan loaded up the ol' SUV and drove 12 hours to Myrtle Beach.  My advice for anybody thinking about driving across the country with two toddlers - sleeping pills - lots and lots of sleeping pills - for yourself or the kids - take your pick.

Day 01 -
Arrived at our resort around 3pm. We were on the 19th floor with an ocean front view.

The boys played on the beach for the first time.

Day 02  -
Decided to have an easy first day. We let Chris sleep in, and spent the late morning/early afternoon at the resort's lazy river and water slide.

We had dinner at a seafood buffet called the Giant Crab. It was insane the amount of food they had. And the building was super awesome, too.

Attempted to go to Barefoot Landing to walk around and do some shopping, but there was not a single parking space available in the whole complex. I'm not kidding. There was traffic backed up for MILES on the street of people trying to get in.  We skipped it and headed back to the resort instead.

Day 03 -
Decided to try Barefoot Landing during the daytime.  Easy breezy getting in, but it was HOT, and the boys were whiny, so we didn't stay for very long.

They had a tiger exhibit at Barefoot Landing, but unfortunately they were only out during the cooler evening hours.  They also had an offer where you could get your picture taken with a chimpanzee! Holy hell! I wanted my picture taken with a monkey!! But, it was something like $75 - which is too much for me. Besides, the monkeys were only available at night, too, and that place proved disastrous to get into at night, so we opted to skip the monkey pictures.

Day 04 -
Woke up early to hit up a breakfast buffet. I was so stoked about it, I was seriously looking forward to it. We all got up, got dressed and wearily drove the 30 minutes to the restaurant only to get there and see they weren't open for breakfast.  GRR.  We found a small family owned pancake house, and stopped in. It was crowded and my boys obviously didn't catch up on their sleep.  Grayson had an accident and peed all over the booth. Jack was heinous and I actually had to take him outside for about 15 minutes because he was screaming.  And Chris ended up sick from the sausage and puked off and on for the rest of the morning.
It's not vacation til someone's puking!
Spent the afternoon on the beach and in the pool.

We did dinner at Medieval Times, and I was super nervous that everyone would hate it. But, our boys, especially Jack, LOVED it! They really got into it, and enjoyed it. Good times!

Day 05 -  Spent the day exploring and shopping at some malls.  Had a good time, but didn't buy anything other than a couple of chocolate covered strawberries.
We got back the resort, and while Jack napped, I took Grayson out to spend some one-on-one time with him.

Chris and I also had a "date night." It was so nice to just get out and enjoy each other's company for a few hours in such a nice place with no kids. It got to us thinking, we need to do a weekend getaway sometime for us.

Day 06 - Spent the morning at the beach and poolside again.

We left out about 3:30 pm for the drive home. We decided we'd try to drive straight through, but liked having the option to stop if we needed to.  I got my family picture at the beach before we left, and wouldn't you know it, Jack was z-zonked out. Lol. Go figure. But, that's our family!

All in all, it was a good trip. Exhausting, but a good trip nonetheless! Back to the daily grind tomorrow. Ugh.

Sounds like an overall great time! And looks like the boys had a blast in the water! I love the pictures of Greyson for your alone time with him!
